Hello, beasties!

My, oh my! This year flew by so fast!

I went into this year hoping to get back into my old reading self, and I believe I achieved just that! I read so much! Much more than I anticipated, actually. And not only getting back into reading, but also blogging more! Though I do hope to improve on that a little more in the new year.

Back to the books! I am so happy with what I read this year! I surpassed all my prior years of reading, even back when I first started blogging. I read a total of 135 books!

Here's a short summary of the stats I think are fun to see!

Total books read: 135

Pages read: ~43,212

Average book length: 321 pages

My average rating: 4.05

Total 5 Stars: 31

Countries Visited: 10

States Traveled: 29.5 (0.5 for Washington D.C.)

Backlist Books Read: 55

DNFs: 13

Genre Breakdown

Fantasy: 41

Scifi: 12

Horror: 14

Thriller/Mystery: 15

Romance: 35

Contemporary: 9

Historical Fiction: 7

Non-Fiction: 1

I did not cross over any of the genres. I picked the top genre for each book.

Now, how did I do on my reading goals?

First ~ Just read!

Well I think I got this one! I read a book, or two, or three! Haha!

Second ~ Get through more of my backlist

Each month, I would make a list of the books I read, and I would make notes if it was an ARC, backlist, or new book. Of my 135 books read, I read 55 backlist books! That's roughly 40% of my reads. Plus, I also had 9 DNFs that were backlist books. So I crossed off a total of 64 backlist books! What did I consider a backlist book? Any book that I personally owned thats been on my shelf for over 6ish months.

Third ~ Remember my love for reading

I also feel like I did well with this goal! Not only did I get back into reading and blogging, but it no longer felt like a job, which was how I was feeling when I started to burn out. That burnout I felt the previous two years is gone.

Fourth ~ Reconnect with the reading community

This was one goal I wasn't sure I'd be able to keep up throughout the whole year. But I did! I ran several book exchanges throughout the year that I think went so well! My participant amount just kept rising with each one. I can't wait to host my next one for Valentine's Day! And then I also still have my local book club, PS Enchanted Reads! We've been meeting for a whole year now! I can't wait to see what we read next year!

You can find my full list of books read during 2025 along with some reading stats on my Goodreads or Storygraph!

Overall, this year went so great for reading! I'm so excited for next year!
