2022 Enchanted Readathon - Week One

Updated: Sep 11, 2022

Hello, fellow book nerds! It's been one week since my first ever Enchanted Readathon started! Wow, time flies!

Let's see... how many prompts have I completed...

1/16

But you know, I'm not mad about that! Not everyone reads at the same pace. And I'm happy that I've completed a prompt within this first week. Plus, I did start a book for a second prompt.

I also need to consider the fact that up until now, I've been just struggling to read. My reading is simply not at the level as it was a few months ago. And I'm truly hoping this readathon will refresh my motivation to read.

So what did I read?

I read Secret Beast by Amelia Wilde for the Join the Coven prompt.

This prompt asked that you read a book for a book club. And Secret Beast was my July book pick for my #EnchantedReadsBookClub, and I'll just say, after that ending, OMG! I can't wait to discuss this with my group!

So what am I reading next?

I'm currently reading The Whispering Dead by Darcy Coates for the Mandrake prompt.

This prompt asks that you read a book with plants on the cover...

Now if you've been following my readathon posts, you might be thinking, but that's not what you picked. It's not. I changed my mind. And hey, that's fine! There's no rule saying that you can't change your book pick. Just that all books need to be read within the dates of the readathon!

But why did I change my mind? There are a few reasons, like for this pick, I was looking at my original pick which was Sunflower Sisters by Martha Hall Kelly, and its a bit of a chonker. I was already planning on reading The Whispering Dead for a buddy read so I decided to swap that in for Mandrake as it's got a tree on the cover. Plus it's less than half the length.

And I've also been playing with the idea of swapping out some of my other picks too. Not necessarily because of their lengths, I just realized after making my initial list, that I kind of wanted to read something else! I'm simply being a bit of a mood reader right now.

That's it for today! Let's see how many I prompts I can get through this next week!
