Hello Beasties!

What genres do you usually pick up?

I am a reader of all sorts of genres! I very much enjoy picking up all sorts of books. And I loved to track the genres I read with a tracker! The past few years I've done a Book Tetris tracker, but this year I decided to change things up a bit. As I usually would stick to the original shapes, that made it harder as my genres read would expand. Or I would be doubling up - like fantasy and sci-fi were together, and that also made it a bit harder to see what I was reading.

So for this year, I decided to use 5 square pieces and now have a total of 12 genres for my tracker! This has also given me an added challenge of really having to think about where I place my reads. But it's been so much fun!

As March was coming to an end, I started thinking about what I've been reading. And lately, it seemed like I've been gravitating towards historical fictions. But as I was updating my tracker, I realized while I may be reading it more recently it hasn't surpassed my overall top genre. Which is currently romance with 17! But its a close second with historical fiction at 10, and then I have a tie for third with dark romance and fantasy both at 9. My overall reading still feels very balanced! Especially since I've been leading with my mood reading. I just have little waves of what I want to pick up.

And I'm excited to see where my mood takes me this month! Based on what I've pulled out to start with for my hopefuls, it feels like a lot of fantasy!

Though if it's anything like how today went, I'm worried for a disastrous month. I dove right into my reading today, eager for a fresh start. Though I ended up DNF'ing three books, one right after another. My reasons for DNF'ing them all were different, and all valid. Though it did make me worried that I might fall into a reading slump.

When I mentioned this to my boyfriend, he told me it was to make up for my lack of DNF's last month. Haha! Maybe so! He also recommended I pick up a book I know I'll enjoy to get me back on track, and so that's what I did!

Despite several DNFs right off the bat, I'm still excited for another month of reading!

Until next time!
