How do you rate books?

I've had an amazing start to my reading this year. I truly did not expect to be almost to 50 books only two months into 2026. I'm extremely happy with my reads in general. But I'll admit, last month was filled with a lot of just 'meh' reads. 14 of my reads last month were 3.5 stars or lower.

Which, even 3/3.5 star reads I find to be enjoyable! But a lot of times, those reads are not super memorable, nothing truly wowed me, or maybe I just found several parts of to be not what I had hoped in one way or another. I definitely rate books with my emotions and how it makes me feel! And I'm not opposed to changing my rating later as well.

This year, I decided to have a new reading tracker solely focused on my star ratings, and I'm sad to see it's very orange at the moment. Especially after last month, I am itching for some new 5 star reads! I want something to blow me away!

I'm heading into March with no real reading goals in terms of what I want to pick up. The only thing I really have planned is to finish my two big books, Manacled by SenLinYu and 11/22/63 by Stephen King, and also pick up A Far Wilder Magic by Allison Saft. All of these are more or less for my local book club. Manacled is one I've been making my way through slowly for a while, but I really want to finish it as my book club wants to pick up Alchemised for our next "Big Book" after we finish 11/22/63!

Other than that, while I do have some books I might want to pick up, I'm going to let my mood reader take charge! Hopeful to find a new favorite! Here's to another hopeful month of reading!
