Starting over sucks.

When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I'd pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring...until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up.

And then he opened his mouth.

Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something...unexpected happens.

The hot alien living next door marks me.

You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon's touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I'm getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades.

If I don't kill him first, that is.

I first came across this series in one of those choices games where you can make different choices throughout the story. I believe I found this particular story in the app, Chapters.

So this first book, I knew majority of what was going to happen. I also know majority of what will happen in the second book as well, but not how it ends. At least I don’t think I know how it ends, I don’t remember finishing the second story. But I enjoyed reading this story over playing the choices game. I got way more details and I fell in love with this story all over again.

I’ll be honest this book may not have been the best book in the world. But I truly enjoyed reading about this alien love story. In a way, this reminded me vaguely of the Twilight and Fallen series. The whole alien with the high school girl, where he’s a jerk to her to protect her. It all sounds familiar. But it was also very different and unique in its own way.

Instead of a vampire or a fallen angel, it’s an alien who is literally like a glow-worm. I read another person’s review of this series, they labeled Daemon a glow-worm and I thought it was very fitting. When it comes to Daemon, we love to hate him. He's such a jerk and at the same time we can't help but want him.

I read this whole book basically in one day 320 pages. That’s the most I’ve ever read in a single day. I honestly surprised myself. But I simply could just not put this book down. I needed to keep reading, to know what was going to happen. Well I knew what was going to happen, but I wanted to know all the details and reread what was going to happen.

Once I reached the halfway point, I went and bought the other four books in this series. I think I’m going to be rearranging my next few TBR lists to read the rest of this series!

Overall, I truly enjoyed this book. It earned a spot on my favorites shelf. I think anyone who enjoyed Twilight or Fallen will like this book! It’s a great paranormal read. It was very entertaining, it flows so well. I can’t wait to for the rest of the books to get delivered! (I’ve got most of the series now and have already read the second book by the time I post this review) I’m so going to just plow through this series.
