Hello, fellow book nerds! It's the end of week two and I couldn't be happier with where I'm at!
Let's see... how many prompts have I completed...
5/16
So while I technically only got through an additional 2 prompts for this second week, I feel very happy with where I'm at and how much I've read.
So what did I read?
I read Lore Olympus Volume 1-4 by Rachel Smythe for the Time Turner prompt.
This prompt asked that you reread a favorite! I may have gone a little overboard with this one. I didn't just read one book. I read 4! I found this the perfect opportunity to not just read the first book like I had originally planned. Volume 5 of this series came out this week, so I thought this was a great time to reread the whole series in preparation for the release of the next one. I simply adore this series. It's definitely one of my all-time favorites now. I fall in love with this story no matter how many times I reread these episodes. This is not my first time rereading these, and I know it won't be my last! I highly recommend this series for anyone who enjoys graphic novels and greek mythology retellings, especially with Hades and Persephone!
And then, I finished A Soul to Keep by Opal Reyne for the Engorgio prompt!
This prompt asked that you read a book with 500 or more pages. As I mentioned last week, I originally had this pick for my Hunters of Artemis prompt. But about halfway through reading it, I decided to switch this to my Engorgio prompt. And I was completely entranced by this story, which shortly after I started it I felt was like a sort of Beauty and the Beast retelling in a way. Which was later proven to be the case when this quote came up... "what would have happened in the story if Belle had fucked the Beast before he became a human?" This is probably the only way I could describe this book. And I felt just like the main character, Reia, and her thoughts about how she shouldn't feel this way about the duskwalker. Girl, I shouldn't be feeling this way. I found this to be sweet and very spicy! Perfect for fans of Beauty and the Beast and if you like a lot of spice in your books!
So what am I reading next?
I'm currently reading The Prox Transmissions by The Starset Society...
This is for my prompt, Gothmog. This is a prompt inspired by my boyfriend's favorite series, Lord of the Rings. And it asks that you read a book that you find intimidating. This is a prompt that can be interpreted in so many ways. Is it a book you find intimidating to pick up? Because it's a genre you don't know if you'd like? Or because it's so long in page length? Or, like how I took it, a book that you might find intimidating because of how real it feels?
I picked this up as a recommendation from my boyfriend, which seemed fitting since he inspired this prompt. This is one of his all-time favorite books. For several reasons. But one of them was by how real it felt. He described this to me as a potential future for our society which could be scary to think about sometimes, so I had to pick it up. Thinking about our future as a society can be intimidating and scary. It's also been fun to talk to him about it as I read it too!
As we start week three, I may be only at 5 prompts so far, but I've also read 8 books already. I'm very pleased with that! We're almost at the halfway point and I've technically already read half the amount of books I wanted to with this readathon! Let's see how many prompts I can get through this next week!
