A father gambles against Death for his daughter's soul. A traumatized man is haunted by the ghosts of a tragedy. A young couple is trapped in a farmhouse, surrounded by an unseen force. And the outward appearance of a handsome, unassuming dentist hides something dark and unhinged. In Fables to Depart By, experience ten stories of dark fantasy and horror, from the far reaches of the North Atlantic Ocean to the hellish surface of the planet Venus.

I’m a big fan of Duchame! Each of his stories are always so creepy. And this did not disappoint! This short story collection is dark and creepy and will have you on the edge of your seat.

What I especially enjoyed about this collection was we see one particular story told throughout the entire book. We see it told in stages and the others in between play into the main story. The flow just worked so well and kept me engaged all the way through.

Each of the individual stories are frightening and will make your skin crawl. As always, I do have ones I enjoy more than others. But overall, this collection was incredibly captivating! I highly recommend if you enjoy horror short story collections!
