Rating: 4/5

One year ago, Isabelle Drake's life changed forever: her toddler son, Mason, was taken out of his crib in the middle of the night while she and her husband were asleep in the next room. With little evidence and few leads for the police to chase, the case quickly went cold. However, Isabelle cannot rest until Mason is returned to her—literally.

Except for the occasional catnap or small blackout where she loses track of time, she hasn’t slept in a year.

Isabelle's entire existence now revolves around finding him, but she knows she can’t go on this way forever. In hopes of jarring loose a new witness or buried clue, she agrees to be interviewed by a true-crime podcaster—but his interest in Isabelle's past makes her nervous. His incessant questioning paired with her severe insomnia has brought up uncomfortable memories from her own childhood, making Isabelle start to doubt her recollection of the night of Mason’s disappearance, as well as second-guess who she can trust... including herself. But she is determined to figure out the truth no matter where it leads.

This had been taunting me on my shelf since it was released. Until I finally picked up randomly one day, giving in to its temptations. Oh, and was I so glad I did!

I had been itching to pick up Stacy Willingham’s books, and this did not disappoint! It drew me in from the very beginning and kept me on my toes all the way through. It flowed so well.

We follow Isabelle, a mother whose toddler was taken from his crib in the middle of the night. With little evidence, the case goes cold. But Isabelle refuses to believe he’s dead and wants him back, dedicating all her time and effort to trying to find him. She can’t even sleep without him. An entire year without proper sleep. Isabelle agrees to work with a true crime podcaster, but it starts to dredge up memories from her past and causes her to question her own memories from that night.

I found the topics of insomnia extremely captivating. And while I didn’t think it was an obvious twist. I genuinely thought this was one that I had figured out. I thought I knew who had done it. Boy, was I wrong! The ending caught me completely off guard. I love it when a thriller truly shocks me!

I found this to be extremely enjoyable. I loved every minute of reading it. I can’t wait to read another book of hers!

I highly recommend this if you enjoy mystery thrillers set around a mother.
